His holiness, Pope Benedict the 16th indicated immediately that his concern was for cooperation between the various churchs.  He further stated that he wanted not only cooperation and collaboration but unity and union. 

At the Eucharistic conference at Bari, Italy, his holiness stated that good intention and good conversation are not enough, there must be action. 

He indicated his desire to be a proponent of such action and pointed to his coming visit to the world Youth Conference in Germany. 

Pope Benedict has indicated that he will dedicate his papacy to the pursuit and achievemnet of unity amoung the churches.
